In Focus Podcast
…my major interest has been in creating decorative, sculptural masks primarily in ceramic.
Welcome, David Mello, a painter, illustrator, sculptor, mask maker, and so much more to In-Focus Podcast Number 104. David is a 1983 graduate of Southeastern Massachusetts University (the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth) where he received a BFA in Illustration and Design.
He has worked for the Fall River Public Library since 1979 and from 1985 to the present, he has served as the library’s Supervisor of Children’s Services.
“For over 30 years now the primary focus of my artwork has been making masks. Though I have designed and created masks for practical use in the theater, my major interest has been in creating decorative, sculptural masks primarily in ceramic,” says David.
His work is largely inspired by characters and themes found in world mythology, folklore, and even historical characters.
David talks with The Artist Index’s host, Ron Fortier, and reveals more of his life and art. This episode was recorded with Zoom “post-pandemic” in 2021.
We offer the option to our guests of recording their podcasts in our studio at the Spectrum Marketing Group in Howland Place or via Zoom following Covid protocol and depending on the current circumstances of the pandemic.
Although there seems to be an end in sight for the COVID-19 Pandemic, we will continue to podcast remotely, assisted by Zoom, to accommodate our guests’ schedules and to allow them to remain in the comfort of their homes.
