Podcast Episode 158: Taylor Hickey

Welcome, Taylor Hickey, to In-Focus Podcast Number 158. Taylor is an interdisciplinary visual artist. She is primarily a printmaker, bookmaker, and sculptor.

She was born and raised in Southeast Texas and received a BA in Drawing/Printmaking from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and earned an MFA in Printmaking from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (UMass) in 2021. Taylor now lives and works in New Bedford, Massachusetts after relocating in 2018.

Taylor Hickey continues developing a body of installation work about the human endeavor to understand the universe at large. In addition to being an artist, she was, the Assistant Curator at the New Bedford Art Museum/ArtWorks. According to Taylor, “Despite not being from the South Coast, I call it my home and I’m interested in the unique creative culture of the area.”

The Artist Index co-founder and host, Ron Fortier, talks to Taylor Hickey about her background, passion for art, and her welcomed assimilation to the South Coast’s creative community. The Artists Index continues using Zoom and occasionally at our studio at the Spectrum Marketing Group in Howland Place in New Bedford.

We accommodate our guests’ schedules and record location/resources preference due to Covid’s continuing presence to allow them to remain in the comfort of their homes or because they don’t live in the South Coast of Massachusetts.

The whole concept of The Artists Index and our journey is still in the making and very organic. If you would like to be a guest or, have a suggestion, please let us know!
