Episode 33

Bet you didn’t know he was once an award-winning accordionist!

Jim Charette

Welcome, Painter/Editorial Cartoonist/Graphic Artist/Tattooist/Artist Provocateur to the show! Jim was very gracious with his time as we worked around the technical challenges on his end. But, we prevailed!

Charette lives with his family in Fall River, Massachusetts, and works out of his home studio. Jim Charette attended the venerable Swain School in New Bedford, Massachusetts. He’s done graphics for several local screen printers as a graphic designer.

Jim was also an editorial cartoonist for the Fall River Herald News, as well as, a freelance humorous cartoonist/illustrator. Wait! There’s more! Jim Charette is also a professional tattoo artist.

He produced a public access tv show called Radio Ether for one year that featured all of his original music and video work. Charette’s paintings have been in numerous group shows and he’s also had a number of solo shows in the United States and abroad.  He is currently on disability for some serious health issues yet he still spends time in the studio every day because, as he says, “I’m not done yet”.

Listen in on the conversation as The Artist Index’s host, Ron Fortier, speaks with Jim Charette and focuses in on how he’s returned to sobriety, is taking care of his health issues and, though he won’t admit it, has become a pivotal individual in the creative community’s forward progression. This is our first Facebook Messenger produced podcast. We did it to accommodate this fascinating artist.

The whole concept of The Artists Index and the journey we are embarking on are still in the making and very organic. At this critical time in our country’s history, as we are experiencing and attempting to remain safely at home during the Covid 19 Pandemic, we will continue to podcast remotely Zoom.  If you would like to be a guest or, have a suggestion, please let us know!
