In Focus Podcast

Episode 35

Black is a color, and black is very dominant in much of my work.

Matthew Beall

Welcome, Painter Matthew Beall, an American ex-pat living in Germany, to the show! Matt was born in California. He’s a self-described coffee addict, golf nut, and oh yeah, painter. Matthew Beall paints abstractly.

He paints simply to paint. It is his opinion that it is totally up to the viewers to see what they see; to interpret a meaning for themselves regardless of whatever he names a painting. Matt prefers to use a limited palette. Many of his paintings are done by afterthought.  Matt says, “I believe black is a color, and black is very dominant in much of my work. I love working on paper. I am not sure if a painting is truly ever finished.”

Listen in on the conversation as The Artist Index’s host, Ron Fortier, speaks with Matthew Beall whom he met online while living in Europe. Matt focuses on how he ended up in Germany and how he’s continued to paint and exhibit.

The whole concept of The Artists Index and the journey we are embarking on are still in the making and very organic. At this critical time in our country’s history, as we are experiencing and attempting to remain safely at home during the Covid 19 Pandemic, we will continue to podcast.
