In Focus Podcast
…to capture just a second in time or a fleeting glimpse of motion…
Welcome painter Mark Barry to In-Focus Podcast Number 90. Mark paints ordinary things, things that he’s discovered aren’t so ordinary at all.
As he relates, “In a world that often seems to be twisting, turning and chaotic, to capture just a second in time or a fleeting glimpse of motion in a painting allows for a semblance of stability. Figures in a landscape, working in a garden, sailing a boat or an interior scene of a family at dinner, in each painting I try to make the connections between the human forms and the environment.”
Whether it’s through his emphatic use of color or line, the exaggeration of an arm, a facial expression or a gently curving road, guiding a cyclist through a country landscape, each element of a painting is connected.
Listen in on the conversation as The Artist Index’s host, Ron Fortier delves more into Marks life, work, and future ambitions. This episode was recorded with Zoom post-pandemic in 2021. We will soon begin to offer the option to our guests of rercording their podcasts in our studio at the Spectrum Marketing Group in Howland Place or via Zoom.
The whole concept of The Artists Index and the journey we are on is are still in the making and very organic. Although there seems to be an end in sight for the COVID-19 Pandemic, we will continue to podcast remotely, assisted by Zoom, to accommodate our guests’ schedules and to allow them to remain in the comfort of their homes.
