Help Us to Research, Share, and Shape South Coast History and Community
Every community has a heartbeat, and ours is sustained by the stories we tell, the spaces we share, and the history we refuse to let fade. Across the South Coast of Massachusetts, a vibrant creative culture has been built over generations by artists, organizers, and everyday neighbors. But keeping that momentum alive takes a village—and right now, we are inviting you to join ours.
The Artists Index is launching a wide-reaching call for passionate volunteers. Whether you love unearthing forgotten local history, welcoming people into warm community spaces, capturing stories on camera, or crafting words that inspire, there is a place for your talents on our team.
This is your invitation to step behind the scenes, connect with cultural leaders, and directly support the initiatives that celebrate and sustain our region’s creative community. What are we looking for?
DYK Historical Researchers: If you love detective work, libraries, and local archives, this role is for you. Help us to unearth the past. History is all around us, waiting in old newspaper clippings, municipal ledgers, and dusty archives. Through our DYK – Did You Know? public history project, now in development, we’re bringing forgotten narratives into the light. We’re looking for volunteers to uncover fascinating, lesser-known facts about the South Coast’s art, architecture, and cultural pioneers, and to draft concise project briefs for upcoming features.
Scriptwriters & Copywriters: Once the DYK – Did You Know? research is gathered, it needs a voice. Scriptwriters and copywriters will translate historical research findings and artist profiles into punchy, engaging slideshows, short-form video scripts (perfect for Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts), and feature articles for the Dandelion Magazine. If you have a flair for narrative and love making history feel alive for modern audiences, we need your pen.
Hospitality Hosts: Be the welcoming face at our second season of the highly anticipated Salon Series. Greet arriving guests, foster meaningful introductions, and build genuine community connections. Help ensure that artists, speakers, and first-time attendees feel right at home while managing venue logistics and the smooth flow of our run-of-show. If you are warm, approachable, and love bringing people together, this role is your natural fit.
Tech & Content Assistants: Do you like capturing the moment? In this digital age, sharing our stories means recording and broadcasting those moments to our community. So they can be enjoyed far beyond the room where they happen. Help us power our live events by managing audio/visual setups, handling digital RSVPs at the door, and operating recording equipment for live sessions and presentations. Your work ensures that our programming is accurately documented and accessible to community members who cannot attend in person.
Media Assistants & Facilitators: Now’s your chance to step into the field as a producer and coordinator! This role involves scheduling and facilitating pop-up lectures, podcast recordings, documentation sessions, and community walking tours. If you are organized, dynamic, and excited about community media production, you will help us take our storytelling directly to the streets and neighborhoods of the South Coast. Stay tuned for announcements about our upcoming documentary film Seeds of the Southcoast!
