We’re Thrilled & You’re Invited !
PLEASE JOIN US!
Podcast guests, friends, colleagues, creative partners, supporters, and everyone who has contributed to our journey are invited to join us at the upcoming Waterfront Area Historic League (WHALE) Annual Meeting at the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. Doors open at 5 PM for hors d’oeuvres from Farm & Coast Market and a cash bar.
The program begins at 5:30 PM. The annual WHALE gathering celebrates the people, organizations, and community leaders who are helping to shape the future of Greater New Bedford through preservation, culture, advocacy, and civic engagement. It is also an opportunity to connect with neighbors, artists, historians, business leaders, and community stakeholders who share a commitment to strengthening our region.
We are being presented with the 2026 George C. Perkins Award in recognition of our work to preserve and promote the cultural sustainability of the South Coast’s creative community. George C. Perkins was one of the founders of WHALE and served as the first president. His mission continues to sustain the organization.
Whether you’ve participated in a podcast, contributed to the Gallery X Documentation Project, attended a DYK Traveling Series event, appeared in Dandelion Magazine, volunteered, partnered with us, or followed our work from afar, we would love to see you there.
The event is free and open to the public. Guests are invited to enjoy a cash bar and complimentary hors d’oeuvres before and after the awards presentation, making it a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with old friends and make new connections within the South Coast’s creative and cultural community. REGISTER HERE!
As The Artists Index continues its mission to document, celebrate, and preserve the stories of our region’s artists, creatives, and cultural organizations, gatherings like this remind us that community is at the heart of everything we do. We hope you’ll join us for an evening of recognition, conversation, and inspiration at the Zeiterion. See you there!
About The Artists Index
Southcoast Artists Index Podcasts offer listeners up-close and personal conversations with the artists, supporters, and cultural impresarios of South Coast’s creative community. Listen to the artists talk about their work, backgrounds, passions, dreams, and accomplishments. Also featured are those who work in or manage the creative community’s economy, promotion, and cultural agenda.
We’re not asking for you to finance a nonprofit. Instead, we are asking for your support to fund a legacy.
Our mission is to preserve and document the lives and legacies of all South Coast Artists.
