Welcome, Colin Williams, who was our guest on Podcast Episode 224. Colin’s memories of his time at and association with SMU (Southeastern Massachusetts University) were enhanced by his delight in working in and around, as well as being surrounded by the University’s Paul Rudolph architecture.

Colin Williams was the co-chairman of the SMU Concert Series, and included finding art majors to design handbills, posters, tickets, and backstage passes for his directed concerts in the auditorium, the big parties in the campus center, and the 3000-seat gymnasium. These events were an unforgettable 4-year experience.

He believes there was an intersection of SMTI, SMU, and the Swain School of Design, which has had a long-lasting effect. There is a culture of musicians and artists here, where “the embracing behaviour of many talents continued to be characterized by expressive and collaborative instincts.” The South Coast is what it is due, in part to its historic and maritime presence and its cultural vibrancy.
